nap time

My baby didn't nap yesterday and my husband can't sleep because he has the flu, which means I didn't get a break all day.   My husband is so needy when he is sick, and I wonder if maybe all men are this way.  When I'm sick, I'm pretty happy to zone out in front of the television with a cup of tea or a glass of ginger ale.  I prefer distract myself from the symptoms.  My husband likes to lay in the dark and dwell on his symptoms, and then describe them to me in detail, and then rag on me for not showing enough sympathy.  Annoying!

My baby is really into rolling over, so I put him in his crib for a nap, he rolls over, and then he can't sleep.  You really can't reason with an infant.

Today I made a big batch of baby food for the freezer.  Once I was covered in puree from head to toe, my husband decided he wanted me to drive him to the clinic.  If you saw a lady covered in chicken and squash puree today, that was me.

I overcame my self sabotaging and started eating healthier.  I haven't been to the gym since my husband got sick because he doesn't want to be home alone with the baby.  I really have no excuse for not doing a workout in the living room, so I'll be back at it tonight.  I downloaded loads of free yoga videos from http://www.yogadownload.com that I will be using during the week if and when my son decides to nap again.

tabloids

Doesn't everyone have that person in their life who always tells you what a great deal they got on stuff.  They're like "hey this shirt was on sale, so I bought eight of them, isn't that a great deal" and you're like "why the heck do you need eight of the same ugly shirt, what a waste of money".  In my life, that person is my mother in law, so I really have to keep my mouth shut. She likes to leave the price tag on gifts she bought you so that you'll see how much it was worth, and then tell you how much she actually paid.  That is how she gets true enjoyment out of gift giving.

Does anyone else hate the use of the word "gifting".  It really bothers me for some reason.  Can't we just give gifts, do we have to gift things?

I have a son who is 8 months old.  He recently had a check up with the doctor who told us that he is in the 99 to 100th percentile for weight and also for head size.  Dr. W joked that when he starts to walk, he might need to wear a helmet because whenever he falls, his head is going to hit first.  Well I hate to tell you, but he does bonk his head quite a bit.  Do you know anywhere I can by a baby helmet that won't make us look like a crazy family?  I should mention that my son is also in the 100th percentile for cuteness.

the deal

I made a deal with my husband that I would exercise five days a week  to try to lose my lingering post-pregnancy weight and he would give up pop for those same days.  The truth is that I resent that we have this deal going and that he has any say in my weight at all.   I also believe that diet is a more important factor in weight loss and that you can't out-exercise a bad diet.  His opinion is that I should be able to burn it off with 20 minutes a day.  I am therefore sabotaging my own weight loss by over-eating.  That'll show him.  Unfortunately, proving a point to my husband is currently outweighing my desire to lose weight.  I obviously need to work on my priorities.
